The Current Track For Matthew as of the 8am Advisory for this morning. Has the racetrack in the cone of uncertainty. The reason the cone is so wide at this point is because as you get 5 days out the cone expands to cover an error of 175 miles. A 20 mile shift east or west will have a huge impact. As of right now the storm is expected to be impacting the Carolina Coast by Saturday and causing impacts throughout the day.

The Wind probabilities from Matthew based on the current track show that wind gust of Tropical Storm Force being felt at the Race right now are around 5-20%

Potential for rainfall accumulation is all over the place right now with the uncertainty depending on what model you look at. Based on the model below less than a tenth of an inch is expected on Saturday at this point.

So if you are planning on coming to the race. By all means go! I am heading out there to cover weather updates for the Dow Racing #3 Team with driver Austin Dillon and Crew Chief Slugger Labbe. I will of course be providing updates on social media and right here on the website as well.
If you are heading out to the coast. I would certainly not cancel my trip at this point because there is still plenty of time for things to change. I would prepare however, even if nothing happens its better to have prepared than not have done anything. Either way enjoy your weekend folks and as always. Thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
