Weekly Drought Update

Thursday, June 30, 2016 - 11:50am

A few areas in the county continue to have abnormal drought conditions. The current drought monitor is out and this is how it looks

U.S. Drought Monitor forNorth Carolina

Compared to last week no change in terms of the coverage area.

However, let's take a look at the numbers for the year and see how we are looking in the northwest portion of the county.

That is only an additional 4 tenths of an inch accumulation in the past week. Not much has changed. How far below normal is the Cleveland area officially for the year? Based on normal totals the Cleveland area is 3.55 inches below normal.

The good news is we are in a period of rain chances being likely in the county on a daily basis. It is simply just a matter of the Cleveland area being lucky enough to get some decent rainfall out of these passing showers and storms.

I will continue to monitor the conditions and provide updates right here on the website every week. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
