Sunday Weather Update for the Coke 600

Sunday, May 29, 2016 - 2:49pm

As we approach the green flag start time for the Coke 600. I wanted to provide an update for those of you who are at the track or who maybe going to the track. Here's my hour by hour forecast in terms of rain chances.

I think for the green flag at the start of the race things will be dry it's as the race goes on that I have my concerns.

There could be some very light rain that works its way into the area around the 7pm hour that will bear some watching.

As we go into the night time under the lights racing showers and storms will be off to our east but a few stray bands I believe will make their way into the area and have some impact on the race.

My biggest area of concern is around the 9 pm timeframe until about 11. This is when I think we will see some showers that will have an impact on the length of the race.

During the 10 pm hour again I think we will need to watch for some isolated showers that could impact the length of the race.

I believe by 11 pm any showers that are left will be out of the hour and if we can get in a complete finish to the race the concern for rain will diminish.

By midnight we will be clear for certain.

I will post another update later as we close in on the start of the race.

As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
