Don't expect much for rain on Friday

Thursday, April 21, 2016 - 9:23am

Our focus over the past 24 hours have been on the potential for rainfall tomorrow. As I stated in my last blog post even though I am forecasting a 60% chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms. There's not much to this system when it gets to our area. If you are lucky enough to get a isolated thunderstorm to pass over you tomorrow you could see around two tenths of an inch at your location but odds are very slim of that happening.

Here's my current thinking based on the latest model projections.

Late tonight some very spotty areas of light rain will begin to move into the area with one or two of those passing over some area of the county being possible.

The best chance for more widespread light rain will pass through during the overnight hours but even those areas may only affect the extreme western portion of the county.

As we head into the daytime hours tomorrow morning. The showers will become few and far between once again. Just not much going to happen at all.

Finally as the system begins to move out we will see most of the heavier rain to our north and south.

Again this is not really going to be the kind of rainfall we need but anything at this point is certainly better than nothing!

As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
