Rain Chances on Friday Not looking like a washout

Wednesday, April 20, 2016 - 4:15pm

As we close in on the weekend the discussion has been mainly about a chance for rain Friday. At this point I would not get to excited about any real measurable amount of rainfall. Chances currently stand at around 60% for an isolated shower or maybe even a thunderstorm. I think the best chances come around the 12 noon to 2 pm timeframe on Friday. Otherwise it's not going to be too memorable of an event.

Based on models here is the timing I am looking at.

As we get into the daytime hours Friday morning there could be a few isolated showers mainly west and southwest of the county.

As we head into the midday hours on Friday there is a chance of some isolated showers and maybe a thunderstorm just to the west of the county that could move through between the 12 noon - 2 pm timeframe I mentioned earlier in this blog.

I am thinking after the 2 pm hour we will begin to dry out as most of the rain that could impact us will be out of the area.

During the commute home we could see a few isolated showers redevelop around the county but I am not looking for anything of any significance during that time period,

As we finish out the day on Friday I don't expect that we will have much going on in the county as most of the weather will be to our south and west as broken areas of showers and storms move through.

I will post an update to this forecast during the day tomorrow but I wanted to give you the opportunity to plan any outdoor events you may have on Friday. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
