Rain chances for the end of the week

Tuesday, March 29, 2016 - 8:43am

I know a lot of information is already being thrown around about Thursday and Friday of this week with the rain moving in and Thunderstorms being possible. While it is likely with all storm systems this time of year that we could see severe storms or even strong storms. This setup is looking more like a rain event at this point and the bigger risk would be localized flooding.

The model above is through 7pm Saturday. Now first let me be clear. There is no indication at all we will get rain past Friday. I wanted to run the model past all forecasted hours of rainfall to get total accumulation readings.

As you can see my concern for localized flooding is based on the fact that we could see 1-2 inches of rainfall around the county on Thursday and Friday. I think most of the accumulation comes on Thursday as we could see over an inch just Thursday. With the possibilities of another three quarters of an inch on Friday. So if you know of an area near your home that generally floods when we get a lot of rainfall over a period of time. You may want to keep a close eye on those areas.

That is my only concern at this point with the system that will be moving through. As we get closer to Thursday i will continue to post updates. Just wanted to give you my current thoughts on the weather moving in for the end of this week.

As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
