Rowan County Weather to Celebrate Severe Weather Preparedness Week 2016

Friday, March 4, 2016 - 10:52am

As we close in on the calendar start to the Spring Season it is always a good time to review and prepare for the Severe Weather that can come with the transition from colder air to warmer air. It is also a great time to plan ahead for the severe weather threats that are associated with the Spring season. Starting this Sunday and going everyday next week March 6-12, 2016. Rowan County Weather will offer a daily blog to help you plan ahead and prepare for the severe weather we could see at any given time during the Spring Season.

Tornadoes, lightning, floods, rip currents and early season heat - spring is three months of danger that can imperil the unprepared. It roars in like a lion, rampaging across the United States throughout March, April and May.  And there’s one hazard that can strike the coasts at any time: tsunamis.

Spring hazards that will have blog articles next week are as follows.

  • Severe Weather/Tornadoes
  • Floods
  • Lightning
  • Tsunamis
  • Rip Currents/Beach Hazards
  • Heat
  • Preparing for Severe Weather while on Spring Break

Now I know some of you are reading this thinking why do we need to prepare for Tsunamis & Beach Hazards in Rowan County? I am sure you are planning a vacation to the coast at some point this Spring or Summer and with that I want to know that I was able to provide you with the information you need to prepare.

I will certainly update social media outlets everyday when the blog post are ready and my hope is that you will read them, watch associated videos with them and take something away that could help you prepare and potentially save your life if you are caught up in severe weather this Spring.

As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
