advertise your local business here »As I eluded to in my last blog post we have a wet week ahead. February has been relatively dry to the point with only 0.78 inches of total rainfall accumulation. However, this week we will see that total grown by at least 1 to 1 and a half inches. The only real concern I have is the chance for localized flooding Let's break down the next few days and how much the rainfall will increase from day to day. Of course starting with Monday.
We will see a frontal system to our north over the next few days just kind of bobble up and down the east coast as that happens the atmosphere will become unstable and rain chances will increase. As you can see from the photo above we will not see much rainfall tomorrow at least during the day as most of the rain stays to our north and south.
As we move into the late evening hours on Monday we start to see rain chances pick up. As you can see from the above picture future cast for 9pm Monday night. This will really be the begriming of a very long wet 24-36 hours in the county.
The picture above is a future cast for 2am Tuesday Morning as those of us with little ones could hear the sound of footsteps running down the hall. A period of heavy rain is possible over the county during this time.
As you can see from the photo above we will have gone from a trace to around six tenths of an inch of rain by the early morning hours of Tuesday morning. Rainfall will continue to occur off and on during the remainder of the day.
By 7am on Wednesday morning as you can see pictured above we will be at around an inch of rainfall total around the county. Rainfall will continue off and on throughout the day on Wednesday.
By around 1am Thursday morning we should see most of the precipitation out of the county and all in all around a total of 1.5 inches for this event.
As I stated in my previous blog post if you are out driving and come across flooded roadways. Please simply just turn around and go another way. I will continue to check the models and keep everyone up to date on the forecast over the next few days. Again my only concern with this upcoming system is localized flooding. Stay dry everyone! As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
