Rain arrives late

Tuesday, March 20, 2018 - 8:51am

It's the first day of Spring and we are starting off with some yucky weather. It is going to be an overcast yucky day with rain moving in later this evening. We will see a high of around 59º

As we move through the day we will see clouds and some isolated rain showers moving in around 7pm this evening. Rain will continue to be isolated off and on as we move into the overnight period as well.

Around 1am we will see some more widespread rain begin to move in. As we head into the early morning hours we could see some wet snowflakes mix in but no snowfall accumulation is expected due to warm air temps and ground temps.

We will see rainfall accumulations of around a quarter to a half of an inch around the county by midnight tonight.

Winds will be gusty as we move through the day. Gust of around 25 miles per hour are possible.

The low this evening will drop down to around 36º

I will be providing updates throughout the day and evening. I will also provide another blog update later this evening concerning when we could see some wet snow flakes mixing in with the rain during the overnight hours. Again no accumulation is expected from snowfall due to warm air temperatures and ground temperatures. As always thank you for following Rowan County Weather!
